Vision
Our vision is to ignite the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in all expressions, as individuals, regions and general ministries, to become passionately involved in birthing, nurturing, engaging and encouraging sustainable new churches in as many ways as possible.
Starting new churches is a “God thing” that requires faith, maturity and partnership within the denomination, the region and the local community.
Since 2001, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has started 990 new churches and counting – toward the goal of 1,000 new congregations by the year 2020. We are growing our partnership in new ways to expand Disciples witness.
In 2012, New Church Ministry joined Hope Partnership for Missional Transformation and continues to practice the same commitment to new church ministry by encouraging Disciples congregations to host new churches, by equipping new church planters for ministry through New Church Planter training, and by hosting events and services to further support and nurture leaders in starting new Disciples witness and mission.
